Kashmir With Leh and Ladakh

Day 01: Arrive Srinagar (By Flight)  Meals: Dinner only

Welcome to Srinagar, (The summer capital) is known for its natural beauty, rich history, and unique experience of staying a houseboat. On arrival at the Srinagar airport, you will be met and transferred to hotel.Upon arrival proceed for check in hotel. Standard check in time 1300 hrs.Later enjoy sightseeing tour of Srinagar visiting the world-famous Mughal Gardens.

Nishat Garden (The Garden of Pleasure): The second-largest Mughal Garden in Kashmir, Nishat sits on the eastern side of Dal Lake and is a must-visit place to add to the sightseeing tour. A terraced garden, Nishat Bagh was built in 1633 AD by Asaf Khan, brother of Mughal Empress, Noor Jahan. 

Shalimar Garden (Abode of love): The Shalimar Bagh is the largest of the three Mughal Gardens in Srinagar. The beautiful garden was commissioned by Mughal Emperor Jahangir in 1619 for his wife Noor Jahan. Also called the Garden of Delight, Shalimar Bagh is a three-terraced garden and its main highlight is Chini Khanas or arched niches.

Chashme Shahi: The smallest of the three Mughal Gardens in Srinagar, Chashme Shahi is primarily famous for its cold water spring which is believed to have medicinal properties. This popular garden was built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan as a gift for his elder son, Dara Shikoh.

Shankaracharya Temple: Shankaracharya Temple or Jyeshteshwara Temple is a Hindu temple situated on top of the Shankaracharya Hill on the Zabarwan Range in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, India. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Overnight stay at Srinagar Hotel.

 

Day 02: Srinagar – Excursion to Pahalgam (approx. 90 kms / 3.5 hrs drive - one way)  Meals: Breakfast & Dinner 

After breakfast at the hotel, leave for a day excursion to Pahalgam (2,133 mts), also known as ‘The Valley of Shepherds’ or ‘Trekker's Paradise’. Pahalgam is the most famous place for Indian Film Industry.Enroute visit Saffron fields, Awantipur ruins (1100 yrs old temple of Lord Vishnu built by King Awantiverma), see the beautiful countryside, lots of rice fields. 

Upon arrival, visit the scenic and rocky valleys of Chandanwadi, Snow Point (around 14 km from Pahalgam) and also enjoy an exciting pony ride.Note - All these activities will be conducted at your own expenses.In the evening, return to Srinagar. Overnight stay at Srinagar Hotel.

 

Day 03: Srinagar – Excursion to Gulmarg (approx. 50 kms / 2-3 hrs drive - one way) Meals: Breakfast & Dinner

After breakfast at the hotel, leave for a day excursion to Gulmarg. The drive past colorful villages and rice fields gives you an insight of the rich cultural past of Kashmir. Gulmarg is one of the most beautiful hill stations in the world and also called Meadows of Flowers.

It has the world’s highest golf course and Gulmarg is also famous for winter sports like skiing etc. But the most popular thing to include is the Gondola (Cable Car) Ride to Phases I and II, namely from Gulmarg to Kongdoori and Kongdoori to Apharwat Peak respectively. The time taken to complete the first phase is around 10 minutes and the second one gets done in about 12 minutes. Ropeway will take you past colorful shepherd hutments to the lower ridge of the Apharwat peak. From here, you can click lots of photos of the nearby mountain ranges that stand tall like sentinels guarding the rich natural beauty of Kashmir valley. We descend back to Gulmarg base after visit.In the evening return to Srinagar. 

Upon arrival proceed for check in houseboat. The houseboat at Dal Lake is going to be your romantic abode tour. After check-in in the houseboat, you can relax for a while.Overnight stay at Srinagar Housebaot.

 

Day 04: Srinagar – Sonamarg – Kargil (approx. 230 kms / 7-8 hrs)Meals: Breakfast & Dinner

After breakfast at the hotel, leave for Kargil enroute visiting Sonamarg & Drass through the adventurous Zojila Pass. Sonamarg (2740 mts) also known as ‘The Meadow of Gold’ or “The Gateway of Ladakh’ and is surrounded by colourful mountains and thick Pine forests. Drass (3280 mts) is the second coldest inhabited place in the worl after Siberia and is famous for the 1999 Kargil war. Enroute visit the Draupati Kund where, as per legends Draupati used to bath during the exile of the Pandavas. Onwards drive to Drass and pay homage to the Kargil War Heroes at the famous Kargil War Memorial. Attend the brief history of the Kargil war memorial by an Army Jawan if available. Enjoy the view of Tiger Hill and Tololing. Upon arrival in Kargil, proceed for check in hotel Overnight stay at Kargil Hotel.

 

Day 05: Kargil Meals: Breakfast & Dinner

After breakfast leave for full day excursion to the enchanting Suru Valley. Suru Valley is one of the most fertile and picturesque valley of the region. It extends from Kargil in the south towards Zanskar in the north. Visit the 7th century 7 Mtrs tall Maytre Buddha statue at Karcheykhar. Also the ruins of the 

Karchaykhar could be seen. The valley is framed for NUN (7135Mtrs) and Kun (7035 Mtrs) along with other lesser peaks which is seen from the camping site at Damsna if the weather permits. After visit drive back to Kargil.Overnight stay at Kargil Hotel.

 

Day 06: Kargil – Lamayuru – Alchi – Leh (approx. 120 kms / 4 hrs) Meals: Breakfast & Dinner 

After breakfast proceed for drive to Leh en-route visiting the Monastery of Mulbekh & Lamayuru & Moon Landscape passing through Namkila & Fatula Passes, the highest pass on the Srinagar - Leh road and proceed to Leh enroute visit 1000 year old Alchi Monastery the only Gompa in Ladakh region on flat ground. Thereafter proceed to the confluence of Indus & Zanskar river (Sangam) drive along the Indus river visiting, Pathar Sahib Gurdwara and Magnetic Hill (where the cars defy gravity), further on to Leh Hall of Fame (which has a museum of the Kargil War memorabilia). 

Overnight stay at Leh Hotel.

 

Day 07: Leh Meals: Breakfast & Dinner 

This morning proceed to Thiksey Monastery, located on a hill-lock with formidable views of the Indus valley. Thiksey is especially noteworthy for its gigantic seated statue of the Maitreya Buddha and is also known for its (Dukhang) assembly hall which houses hundreds of rectangular prayer books, stacked between wooden covers and bound in silk. After Thiksey we drive back to Leh through series of chortens to visit Shey Palace the former summer palace of the King of Ladakh. Later visit Shanti Stupa a Buddhist white-domed Stupa on a hilltop in Changspa, It was built in 1991 by Japanese Buddhist Bhikshu, Gyomyo Nakamura and part of the Peace Pagoda mission. Later also visit Leh Palace is a former royal palace overlooking the town of Leh. The palace was constructed circa 1600 by Sengge Namgyal.

Overnight stay at Leh Hotel.


Day 08: Leh – Khardung La – Nubra Valley Meals: Breakfast & Dinner 

After buffet breakfast proceed for road journey from Leh to NUBRA VALLEY passes over KHARDUNG LA (the highest motorable road in the world) at 5602 M / 18,390 Ft, around 39 km from Leh. From the pass, one can see all the way south over the Indus valley to seemingly endless peaks and ridges of the Zanskar range, and north to the giants of the Saser massif. Nubra Valley is popularly known as (Ldumra) or (The Valley of Flowers). It is situated in the north of Ladakh between the Karakoram and Ladakh ranges of the Himalayas. Upon arrive proceed for check in camp.

Later visit Diskit Monastery and enjoy the Camel ride on sand dunes (on direct payment). Dikshit Monastry perched on a rock overhanging next to a stream, which provides the source of energy used by mills in the area. Diskit is the main village or headquarters of Nubra Valley, which has a small market consisting of a row of shops. Later drive to Panamik – famous for hot Sulphur Springs. You may take a bath at the springs, which is said to be very good for the skin,

Dinner and overnight stay at the camp.

 

Day 09: Nubra Valley – Pangong Lake Meals: Breakfast & Dinner

Today after breakfast, we shall drive to Pangong Lake enroute visiting Shyok, Durbuk and Tangste villages. 

Pangong Lake, situated at 14,000 feet (4,267 M). A long narrow basin of inland drainage, hardly six to seven kilometers at its widest point to which foreigners are permitted, is only some seven km along the southern shore from the head of the lake, but it affords spectacular views of the mountains of the Changchenmo range to the north, their reflection shimmering in the ever-changing blues and greens of the lakes brackish water. Upon arrival proceed for check in camp.In the evening, enjoy the breathtaking view of Pangong Lake.Dinner and overnight stay at the camp.

 
Day 10: Pangong Lake – Leh  Meals: Breakfast & Dinner

Get up early morning to witness the sunrise view at the lake. Enjoy your breakfast and drive back to Leh via Changla Pass 5486 Mtrs, Thiksey Monastery & 3 Idiots Rancho School.Arrive Leh and check in at the hotel. Evening free for shopping or leisure. Dinner & overnight stay at Hotel.

 

Day 11: Depart Leh (By Flight – TBA) Meals: Breakfast only

After breakfast day is free for personal activities. 

Standard check out time 1000 hrs

In time you will be met and transferred to airport to board flight for onward journey.
